Redemption Release Just in Time
for Lucky Craft's Skeet Reese

Lucky Craft pro discusses new, signature spinnerbait, first of its kind

COSTA MESA, Calif. (December 8, 2008) - When 2007 Bassmaster Angler of the Year and Lucky Craft pro, Skeet Reese, set out to produce the ultimate spinnerbait, he had to look no further than his own backyard. Together, Reese and Lucky Craft designed a unique spinnerbait incorporating Lucky Craft's key engineering techniques and creative elements, and they're calling it the Redemption.

The California native has been without a spinnerbait sponsor for more than a year and after the initial conversation with Minoru Segawa, the president of Lucky Craft, Reese was more than excited about the opportunity.

"We finally came to the realization this was possible for us to do," Reese said. "I knew if I was going to put my name with a product like this, it had to be premium. And premium goes hand in hand with Lucky Craft products. They make premium baits, there are no two ways about it."

With Japanese art and precision incorporated into the spinnerbait design, the Redemption series is unlike anything on the market today. The heads mimic colors already popular in the Lucky Craft arsenal, such as Ghost Minnow, Chartreuse Shad and Aurora Black.

In addition to the lifelike colors, some versions of the Redemption will have a characteristic unlike any other spinnerbait - rattles inside the head.

"The rattles are very unique to the market," Reese added. "The spinnerbait will rattle as it rolls over cover and as the blades spin. These rattles aren't attached to the outside, so it's not as bulky, and it gives off a more natural sound."

The bait has been in the research and development phase for some time and was originally pre-released at ICAST 2008. Stores such as Bass Pro Shops will begin stocking the high-end spinnerbaits in January 2009; just in time for Reese to use at the 2009 Bassmaster Classic.

"I'm looking forward to fishing it on the Red River," Reese said. "I think there is a good possibility for a spinnerbait bite there. From the clear back water to the muddy waters, I think the spinnerbait will be conducive to fishing that river system."

In addition to the Red River, Reese believes the Redemption will fish well in shallow or deep water, and knows it will be a versatile bait.

"The uses for this bait are unlimited," Reese said. "For the spring, I think we'll be looking at the fish positioned in shallow water. The Redemption is really going to shine when the water gets clearer and the fish get finicky. These spinnerbaits are going to look so much more lifelike, and I think that will generate more strikes."

The initial versions available in January will feature a small Colorado blade on the front and a large Willow blade on the back. They will have straight wires initially, but bent-wire versions and other blade combinations will be released later in 2009.

More often than not, the Redemption will be fished on 15- to 17-pound monofilament on a 7-foot, medium action rod. According to Reese, monofilament casts smoother and easier than fluorocarbon. Even though fluorocarbon has benefits such as stretch, sink rate and overall feel, the monofilament will be beneficial when target casting and precision is important.

"I can be more accurate with monofilament, and it's softer and comes off the spool easier," Reese added.

The 1/4-ounce and 3/8-ounce versions will be available in January and retail price will be $13.99 and $14.99, depending on the color.

With internal tungsten components, sleek body design and realistic colors, the Redemption is one of the most exciting products to come from Lucky Craft in recent years. It combines cutting-edge crankbait technology in a premium spinnerbait.
