Costa Mesa, Calif. (November 20, 2006) – Lucky Craft lures proved their worth yet again this weekend, as several anglers were successful with various Lucky Craft baits. Lucky Craft crankbaits, in particular, dominated this weekend in different areas and conditions.
Texas resident, Sean Hoernke found himself in the winner’s seat for the FLW Series event held this past weekend on Lewis Smith Lake in Alabama. Hoernke’s crankbait arsenal consisted of one main lure – a Lucky Craft BDS 1 in two main colors, Rootbeer Brown and Fire Tiger. Rootbeer Brown was the key on day one as he used the Lucky Craft crankbait and another buzzbait to bring in his 9 pound, 6 ounce bag, putting him in ninth place.

Hoernke switched it up a bit on day two, but didn’t stray from the ‘lucky’ crankbait that got it done on day one. Switching from Rootbeer to Fire Tiger because of the dirtier water conditions, Hoernke brought in a 13 pound, 10 ounce bag, putting him in first place, where he stayed the next two days.
It was also a winning weekend for Lucky Craft pro, Gerald Swindle, as he fished an array of Lucky Craft lures on Lewis Smith Lake. Fishing deep wasn’t working for Swindle in practice or on day one, as he brought in one fish weighing 2 pounds, 8 ounces. With a lot of catching up to do, Swindle switched it up and went shallow on day two – the best decision he could have made.

Swindle brought in a keeper on day two with the Lucky Craft BDS 3 (Mat Tiger) and his biggest stringer on day three with the Lucky Craft RC 2.5 (Chartreuse Black). Lucky Craft’s dominance continued on day four, as Swindle brought in two of his four keepers on a popular topwater lure, the Lucky Craft Gunfish 115 (MS American Shad), in about one foot of water. He also caught a three-pounder on the RC 2.5 (Copper Shad).

Swindle finished the weekend in third place with a total weight of 33 pounds, 5 ounces, and believes he has Lucky Craft to thank.
“Lucky Craft provided me the opportunity to be very versatile with quality baits,” said Swindle, a native of Warrior, Ala. “I didn’t have to go out and practice with these baits – I took them straight off the shelf and tied them on. I know the quality is there straight out of the package and that is key for me. I don’t have to go out and establish confidence in Lucky Craft baits during practice. When I take them out of the pack, I know they are going to catch fish.”

Lucky Craft’s success didn’t end there. Ben Matsubu won the Bassmaster Elite Series Wildcard Qualifier at Florida’s Harris Chain of Lakes, and most of the fish he weighed in were caught on the Lucky Craft RC 2.5. Matsubu brought in a three-day total of 40 pounds, 15 ounces, fishing around eel grass in 2 – 3 feet of water. He not only gained entry into the 2007 Bassmaster Elite Series, but all his entry fees will be paid in full.
